The Poyntington Annual Charity Lecture
A tale of growth with an added sprinkling of fertilizer
Tales of growth, environment, wildlife and seasonal challenges will form the roots of the talk with an added sprinkling of gardening humour to fertilize the subject matter. Mike Burks, managing director of The Gardens Group, will be sharing his 25 years' experience of running garden centres at the fifth annual charity Poyntington lecture on Friday 22 November at The Gryphon Conference Centre, Sherborne, from 7pm.
As joint owner with Louise Burks, of Castle Gardens, Sherborne, Brimsmore Gardens, Yeovil and Poundbury Gardens in Dorchester, Mike will discuss 'The Changing Face of Garden Centres' and any keen or novice gardener is sure to learn from Mike as he shares stories and anecdotes gleaned from his work at the heart of his business.
Tickets to the talk are £12 per person, which will include a glass of wine and canapés provided by the Poyntington villagers. All proceeds from the lecture will be donated to support All Saints Church and the village hall in Poyntington.
The talk will also look forward to consider how the changing environment, wildlife, community and technology is likely to change the way people garden in the coming years.
Tickets are available in advance from Castle Gardens, New Road, Sherborne, DT9 5NR, from Allan Rodger 01963 220759 and Jill Oliver 01963 220637.
