The Gardens Group celebrates two milestones

Added on 17 February 2012

Two of the garden centres in The Gardens Group are reaching important milestones this year. Castle Gardens in Sherborne is 25 years old in April, and Brimsmore Gardens in Yeovil celebrates 20 years in March. To celebrate the Birthdays, the garden centres are holding a series of events starting with 'Cupcakes and Champagne' on Thursday 1st March at Brimsmore Gardens, to which everyone is invited.

Mike Burks, Managing Director of The Gardens Group comments: "It is hugely exciting to celebrate such massive milestones for two of our Gardens Centres and, looking back at photos of when we opened in 1987 at Castle Gardens and 1992 at Brimsmore Gardens, it's fascinating to see how far we have come and how much we've grown.

"We recognise lots of our customers who have been with us since the very start and we'd love to create a history board at each centre with memories gathered from the last 25 years - for instance people still mention the little chicks under the heated lamp at Brimsmore Gardens, picking fruit there, and bringing their children and now their grandchildren to see the Christmas displays. We'd love to see photos and hear of more anecdotes so we hope people will bring them in to add them to our history board".

As well as cupcakes and champagne, Brimsmore Gardens has 20 trees to give away to customers' chosen charities or good cause; discounts for people born in 1992 and a Birthday Party, fluffy chicks, a charity BBQ and a tasting of local food on Saturday 10th March. More details can be downloaded from the fact sheet page at or picked up from one of The Gardens Group Garden Centres.

Plus, to celebrate The Gardens Group birthdays, staff members are compiling a 2013 Calendar which will be on sale at Christmas. The Calendar will feature customers' photographs and there will be prizes for the top 12 images - entry forms will be available at Brimsmore, Castle and Poundbury Gardens and online, images with full entry details can be sent in by post, uploaded to or emailed to
