Castle Gardens wows the judges with Christmas Displays

Added on 11 February 2008

Castle Gardens at Sherborne has once again wowed judges from the Garden Centre Association with its Christmas displays for 2007 - and for the 4th year running the displays have won first prize!

"We have just heard that we have won first prize for the Wales and West region and the whole team is thrilled to bits! This year we've had thousands of people to look at the displays which are becoming very well known throughout the region - it's a magical time for lots of reasons. People walk through the displays and see the baubles, wreaths and trees and they love the chilly winter wonderland with its train and snowy scene. It seems that there are lots of granddads who love the train and enjoy spending time watching it through the snowy tunnels with their grandchildren. We get a huge amount of pleasure out of seeing families come back year after year with their children!" explained Louise Burks who is the inspiration behind all the displays at Castle Gardens.

Each year, the Christmas team at Castle Gardens builds up displays which range from traditional red, gold and tartan, to a theme which is inspired by cappuccino! There are also displays of polar bears, penguins and deer - with moving animals which gently nod or snooze amongst the snowy woodland settings. There are also traditional nativity scenes and magical forest glades in deep purple and silver.

As well as Castle Gardens winning first prize, Poundbury Gardens won 4th and Brimsmore Gardens came out in the top eight. At each Centre the displays are open every day with special late nights every Tuesday and Thursday from 27th November until 18th December (from 5.30 - 8.00pm).
