On Friday 28 October, Dr David Evans, chairman of the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust, a charity providing support for cancer patients in Dorset, was presented with a cheque from the team at Castle Gardens in Sherborne, following a fundraising event held in the Butterfly House back in September.

Live music from the 50s, 60s and 70s, a raffle with fantastic prizes and a jambola, (jam jars filled with unusual objects, such as pegs, fresh air and nuts and bolts), all helped raise over £330 for Fortuneswell Cancer Trust on Saturday 10 September.

Dr David Evans, (above centre left), explains; “The local community is responding really well to our current major fundraising initiative, the Proposed West Dorset Cancer Centre at Dorset County Hospital, and the money raised by the team at Castle Gardens will go towards this. We are extremely grateful to everyone involved for holding this event and helping us deliver more support to cancer patients across the county.”

Di Norton, fundraising supervisor at Castle Gardens (above far right), adds; “We were delighted to be able to hold an event for Fortuneswell Cancer Trust, which carries out wonderful work in the community. The whole team, especially Tony Das (far left) and Lesley Parsons, came together to help make it happen. Special thanks to Liz (above centre) for all her hard work in helping me prepare all the food and a big thank you to Anita, Kate and Lizzy on the night too.”
