Mini beasts, creepy crawlies, snakes and birds of prey will take centre stage at Bugfest, the south west’s biggest bug event, which will be held at Brimsmore Gardens in Yeovil on Tuesday 25 October from 2pm – 5pm. From cockroaches and scorpions to spiders and pythons, gardeners of all ages will have an opportunity to hold these unusual and mysterious creatures at this free family event.
As well as handling majestic birds from Sharandys Birds of Prey, in return for a small charitable donation, and getting up close and personal with creepy crawlies, there will be a Harry Potter fancy dress box for visitors to help bring the Halloween festivities alive.
Karen Hillard, assistant manager of Brimsmore Gardens, explains; “Bugfest’s display of snakes, spiders and mini beasts is seriously impressive and not for the faint-hearted! Events like this are a great way to engage younger gardeners with these creatures in a fun atmosphere, which will not only make them less fearful of creepy crawlies, but also give them an insight into how their actions impact upon our wildlife’s survival.”
